Combine Group at the Union World Conference on Lung Health 2025 – Copenhagen

We are pleased to announce that Prof. Francesco Pappalardo, Leader of the Combine Group, was officially invited to speak at the Union World Conference on Lung Health 2025, one of the most influential global events dedicated to tuberculosis and respiratory health.
During the conference, Prof. Pappalardo delivered a presentation titled:
“In Silico Trials to Identify and Optimize Host-Directed Therapy Combinations for TB”
His talk highlighted how advanced computational modeling can accelerate the development of Host-Directed Therapies (HDTs), an innovative approach to tuberculosis treatment.
A central focus of the presentation was UISS-TB (Universal Immune System Simulator for Tuberculosis), a powerful agent-based simulation platform designed to reproduce the complex interactions between Mycobacterium tuberculosisand the human immune system.
Through UISS-TB, it becomes possible to:
- model the immune response to TB across multiple biological scales
- virtually test therapeutic combinations and predict clinical outcomes
- explore how different patient profiles may respond to HDTs
- significantly reduce time and resources required during early-stage research
Participating in the Copenhagen conference alongside leading researchers, clinicians, policymakers, and community advocates from around the world represents an important recognition of our work and a valuable opportunity to contribute to the global dialogue on the scientific and public health challenges of TB.
A sincere thank you to everyone who continues to support our mission: to innovate, collaborate, and develop solutions that can make a meaningful impact on global health.
