PN RIC – ECHO-TWIN Edge-Cloud-HPC Optimized Twins based on Workflow-enhanced Inference Networks
2026 – 2027
The ECHO-TWIN project, funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research under the National Research, Innovation and Competitiveness Programme 2021–2027 (PN RIC), aims to advance the development and adoption of intelligent Digital Twin technologies through the integration of Edge Computing, Cloud infrastructures and High-Performance Computing (HPC).
The project is structured around three complementary actions:
- ECHO-TWIN-RISE – Research and Innovation: focuses on research and technological development to improve the performance, scalability and integration of Digital Twin ecosystems across distributed computing infrastructures.
- ECHO-TWIN-NET – Networking and Technology Transfer: aims to strengthen technological infrastructures, foster collaboration between research institutions and industry, and promote the transfer of innovative digital solutions.
- ECHO-TWIN-UP – Upskilling and Training: promotes the development of advanced digital skills through training activities and knowledge exchange, particularly in fields such as HPC, Artificial Intelligence, Edge Computing and Digital Twins.
Within this framework, the Combine Group contributes its expertise in in silico medicine, computational modelling, Artificial Intelligence and biomedical Digital Twins. Its research activities focus on applying advanced computational approaches to healthcare, supporting the development of virtual models and simulation-based tools for biomedical research, clinical applications and decision support.
Through its participation in ECHO-TWIN, the Combine Group contributes to strengthening the connection between computational research and healthcare innovation, fostering the development and application of advanced digital technologies in medicine.
