Project title: Feasibility study for medicated silicone formulations as long-term drug releasing implants
Starting date: December, 15th 2017.
Ending date: December, 15th 2018.
This study aims to demonstrate the feasibility of a long term delivery of testosterone (≥ 5 years) from silicone testicular implants. Currently there are different pathologies in which a long term delivery of testosterone is required. Different delivery systems are available for that, ranging from oral application to transdermal delivery systems. In all cases with different level of patience compliance and repeated administration. In this context, COMBINE Group develops mathematical modelling for multi-compartmental delivery and computational evaluation of drug release in order to optimize concentration level to obtain the best bioavailability (i.e., maintaining of the saturation level).
